The film relishes in its simplistic nature, and it isn’t very difficult to follow. I especially liked the way this picture incorporated magic into its story about a boy and his relationship with a goldfish princess. The imagination, creativity, innocence, and budding intelligence that comes along with that time so many look back on after it has passed is examined in this picture, and to the extent of a kids film, it is very enjoyable. ‘Ponyo’ is, above everything, a film about childhood.
